Event Announcement: EONANOBIOPS First Annual Consortium Meeting
The Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC), Lead Partner of the EONANOBIOPS project, in collaboration with the University of Catania (UNICT), is pleased to announce the project’s First Annual Consortium Meeting.
The three-day meeting will bring together EONANOBIOPS partners to review the project’s first-year progress, discuss scientific and technical achievements, address implementation challenges, and agree on priorities and actions for Year 2.
📅 Dates: 19–21 October 2026
📍 Venue: University of Catania, Catania, Italy
🏛️ Host: University of Catania (UNICT)
Meeting Highlights
- First-year progress and coordination: Review of project implementation, financial progress, and communication, dissemination and visibility activities.
- Essential oils and biological screening: Scientific presentations and discussions on essential-oil selection, chemical characterisation, biological activity against tomato pests and pathogens, and safety assessment.
- Innovative nanoformulations: Exchange of progress on essential-oil nanoformulations, including their development, characterisation and biological validation.
- Practical training and joint research: Hands-on preparation of clay-based essential-oil nanoformulations and β-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes, complemented by analytical demonstrations and discussion of results.
- Scientific exchange and networking: A poster session showcasing research findings, experimental methods, partner expertise and institutional capacities.
- Scale-up and second-year planning: Discussions on production and commercialisation, capacity building, research priorities, partner responsibilities and implementation timelines.
Why This Meeting Matters
The First Annual Consortium Meeting represents an important milestone for EONANOBIOPS, bringing all project partners together to assess first-year progress and translate scientific findings into coordinated actions for the second year. Through scientific discussions, practical laboratory training and joint planning, the meeting will help harmonise experimental methods, identify priority essential oils and nanoformulations, and strengthen collaboration across the project’s research, scale-up and commercialisation activities. It will also support the consortium’s shared objective of developing effective, safe and environmentally sustainable nano-biopesticide solutions for protecting tomato crops from major pests and pathogens.
