The Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC) — Lead Partner of the EONANOBIOPS Project — participated in the launching and training seminar of the 60 Interreg NEXT MED projects, held in Bari, Italy, on October 22–23, 2025.
The event, organized by the Managing Authority of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, gathered project leaders from across the Mediterranean region to strengthen collaboration and enhance capacities for the effective implementation and visibility of EU-funded initiatives.
Representing Prof. Mohammed Saleem Shtayeh, Project Coordinator, the BERC Project Coordination Team took part in sessions dedicated to project management, financial procedures, and communication practices. The training addressed essential aspects of the Interreg NEXT MED framework, including general rules and partner responsibilities; financial management and eligibility of costs; procurement procedures; as well as branding, visibility, and digital communication strategies — all crucial for ensuring professional, transparent, and impactful dissemination of project results.
Through its participation, BERC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering transnational cooperation and excellence in research and innovation. As Lead Partner, BERC — together with its distinguished partners from across the Mediterranean — remains dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and environmentally responsible pest management solutions.
The EONANOBIOPS Project aims to develop safe, biodegradable, and nature-based nano-biopesticides derived from plant essential oils. These innovative products are designed to serve as eco-friendly alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides, helping to protect crops especially the tomato crop under protected cultivation conditions.

شارك مركز أبحاث التنوع الحيوي والبيئة (BERC) – بصفته الشريك القائد لمشروع EONANOBIOPS – في فعالية الإطلاق وبرنامج التدريب لـ 60 مشروعًا من مشاريع Interreg NEXT MED، التي عُقدت في مدينة باري الإيطالية يومي 22 و23 أكتوبر 2025.
نُظّمت الفعالية من قبل الهيئة الإدارية لبرنامج Interreg NEXT MED، وجمعت قادة المشاريع من مختلف دول البحر الأبيض المتوسط، بهدف تعزيز التعاون وبناء القدرات لضمان تنفيذ فعّال وتحقيق رؤية واضحة ومستدامة للمبادرات الممولة من الاتحاد الأوروبي.
وقد مثّل المركز الأستاذ الدكتور محمد سليم اشتية، منسق المشروع، فريق تنسيق مشروع BERC الذي شارك في الجلسات المخصصة لـ إدارة المشاريع والإجراءات المالية وممارسات الاتصال.
وتناول التدريب الجوانب الأساسية لإطار عمل Interreg NEXT MED، بما في ذلك القواعد العامة ومسؤوليات الشركاء، والإدارة المالية، بالإضافة إلى متطلبات الهوية البصرية واستراتيجيات الاتصال الرقمي — وهي عناصر أساسية لضمان نشر مهني وشفاف وفعّال لنتائج المشروع.
ومن خلال مشاركته، أكد مركز BERC التزامه الراسخ بتعزيز التعاون العابر للحدود وبالتميز في مجالي البحث والابتكار. وبصفته الشريك القائد، يواصل المركز — بالتعاون مع شركائه المتميزين في جميع أنحاء منطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط — جهوده في تعزيز الزراعة المستدامة وتشجيع الممارسات البيئية المسؤولة في مكافحة الآفات الزراعية.
يهدف مشروع EONANOBIOPS إلى تطوير مبيدات حيوية نانوية آمنة وقابلة للتحلل وصديقة للبيئة مشتقة من الزيوت العطرية النباتية. وتمثل هذه المنتجات المبتكرة بدائل بيئية فعّالة للمبيدات الكيميائية التقليدية، مما يسهم في حماية المحاصيل وبخاصة محصول البندورة تحت ظروف الزراعة المحمية، وضمان صحة المزارعين والحفاظ على البيئة، مع دعم التحول الأخضر نحو الزراعة المستدامة في منطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط.
